coisas simples

According to South Korean government estimates,
there are about 154,000 North Koreans
who live in prison camps. But in each part of the world,
some people create their own detention houses
inside their bodies. Our body is supposed to be a home;
a sanctuary of the living soul. Yet some find their bodies
disgusting and dark and fragile so they tucked them
away from the sun. I once knew a girl whose voice
never encountered an echo. Her mouth was a dungeon.
Her words were trapped and dying. Darling, I see you.
You are not a bird. You have a song. Do not caged yourself.
Even birds do not deserve this. You deserve to fly
and explore this earth and its endless skyline.
My dearest, your existence is not a mistake.
You are not a crime scene. Stop locking yourself up
and wishing you were dead. Death holds nothing
but silence and numbness. This world is an asylum in itself.
What you should put behind bars are your insecurities,
your doubts, your past. Handcuffed your depression
and throw away the keys. Remember your heart
is your stronghold. It never lies. Now start smashing
those walls around you and let freedom
and beauty consume you.
